Organic quinoa

Method

2:1 ratio; use one part quinoa to two parts water

  • Rinse the quinoa well under cold running water before cooking; this removes the bitter tasting saponins that coat quinoa
  • Bring water to boil in a saucepan
  • Add the quinoa and return to the boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for around 12 minutes or until the quinoa has absorbed all the water
  • Remove from the heat, fluff with a fork and let stand for 5 minutes

Super Cholo Tip

You can boil quinoa twice or even three times to achieve a better tasting grain, rinsing between each boil in cold water!

Cook a batch of quinoa to last you through the week. It keeps fresh for 3-4 days refrigerated or up to 3 months frozen. Then you can add it to salads or use it as a replacement for rice

Keep in mind that black and red quinoa require 5-10 minutes additional cooking time
