Quinoa is a versatile pseudo-cereal and one of the most nutritious grains used as human food. It has a remarkable 12-15% protein content which is comparable to the amount found in milk and eggs!
The composition of the essential amino acids in quinoa is excellent. The content of lysine, methionine and cysteine is higher than in common cereals, legumes, and other crops. This is why quinoa can be considered a very nutritious cereal when compared to more common cereals such as wheat, barley, and corn.
Quinoa is also a very good source of antioxidants and minerals which is why it is a great substitute for other cereals.
It does not contain gluten and it is rich in fibre making it very digestible.
Ingredients: 100% Organic red quinoa.
Cooking instructions: Take one part quinoa grain, rinse well and cook with two parts of water. Bring to the boil and simmer for approximately 10 minutes with the lid on. Remove from the heat and leave covered until all liquid is absorbed.
Uses: Savoury dishes, salads, porridge, baking and soups.
Warning: Do not eat uncooked quinoa.
